This drill was first performed in 1965 during the half-time show against Pitt. The following year it became part of the pre-game show and has been ever since!

After winning his first National Championship in 1983 Joe Paterno wanted Penn State to be known for its academic excellence as well as its sports excellence. Paterno made his intentions clear – a new and improved library. Joe and his wife Sue started a campaign which raised 13.7 million for the construction of the new library wing – which was subsequently named after them.
