A Shady spot on the “Lawn”, “Old Main Autumn” is a limited edition print by watercolor artist, Richard Greenleaf. The Obelisk was erected in 1896. It stands 32.7 feet high and weighs 53.4 tons. The obelisk is built with materials that were indigenous to Pennsylvania. The obelisk was an artistic way of showing architects what materials were available and the materials aesthetic qualities. The obelisk consists of 281 building blocks that are stacked in geological order – the oldest at the bottom and youngest at the top. Our NEW image of the obelisk shows this majestic statue just as sturdy and pristin as the day it was built in 1896.
