The original home of the university president was built in an Italianite style farmhouse. Over the years the home went through several major renovations; including adding porches and turning the architecture into a Queen Anne style and adding large columns and a large portico. Finally, in the 2000’s the Hintz Family Alumni Center was built onto the house tripling its size.

Pattee Library is named after Fred Lewis Pattee, he is considered to be the first professor of American Literature and the author of the Penn State Alma Mater. Pattee is one of fourteen University Libraries at the University Park Campus between them they hold 5.4 million books.
