The Nittany Lion

No symbol exemplifies the spirit of Penn State University better than the Nittany Lion Shrine. This limestone creation has guarded the PSU campus since 1942 and was carved by famed American sculptor Heinz Warneke. The Nittany Lion represents the strength of character that every student who has graduated from this central Pennsylvania college knows.
